Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Noodle ("the app") is built to work without an account. This policy explains what stays on your device, what leaves it, and why.
What stays on your device
- Your progress. Words you've learned, levels, streak, XP, daily stats, liked clips, settings and how your Noodle is dressed are stored on your iPhone.
- Your own iCloud. If you're signed into iCloud, the same progress is synced through Apple's iCloud key-value storage so it follows you to a new iPhone. It sits in your iCloud account under Apple's privacy terms; we can't read it.
- Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We run no push-notification servers.
Video clips (YouTube)
Clips play through YouTube's official embedded player. Video is streamed by YouTube; we never download or store it. When a clip plays, YouTube may collect information such as your IP address, device information and viewing activity, as described in the Google Privacy Policy. Noodle uses YouTube API Services, and by using Noodle you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. You can review or revoke access granted to applications through Google at Google security settings (Noodle does not ask for any Google account access).
Speaking practice
When you use a "Say it" card, the app uses your microphone to hear one sentence and Apple's speech recognition to transcribe it. On iPhones that support it, this happens entirely on your device. On others, Apple may process the audio under its own privacy terms. Noodle does not record, store or upload your voice.
Lesson content
The app may download new lesson content (clip lists, transcripts and word lists) from our website, trynoodle.app. Like any web server, it may log your IP address and the time of the request for security and reliability. These requests carry no information about you or your progress.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. It receives an anonymous, app-generated identifier and your purchase receipt, nothing else.
Advertising attribution
To measure our own ads, Noodle may include the Meta (Facebook) SDK. Only if you allow tracking at the iOS prompt may the SDK use your device's advertising identifier together with app events (install, open, subscription) to tell which ads brought people to Noodle. Decline the prompt and no tracking identifier is shared; you can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. We never share what you watch, the words you learn or your progress with Meta or any advertiser.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn what to improve, the app sends simple counts to our website, trynoodle.app: for example that a level was started or finished, which language it was in, how many minutes of clips were watched, or which onboarding answer was picked. These are tallies only. They carry no name, account, device ID, advertising ID or anything else that could identify you, and they can't be linked back to you or your phone.
Feedback
If you send feedback from Me in the app, we receive what you wrote, the emoji you picked, the language you're learning, the app version, roughly how many days you've used Noodle, and whether you subscribe. It is not linked to your identity. Don't include personal details you don't want us to have; if you'd like a reply, email us instead.
Translation reports
If you report a translation problem, the report (the clip, the sentence and your note) is saved on your device and only sent to us if you choose to send it by email from Settings.
What we don't do
No accounts, no selling of data, no profiles built about you. The app makes no calls to AI services.
Children
Noodle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
